Empire State Games, held at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY on the Hudson River senior, Kyle Vander Plaat and junior, Frank Petrucci came in First place winning the Junior Men's Open Double with a time of 7:55 for a 2000meter race competing against four other New York state regions.
Petrucci and Vander Plaat Win Gold at the Empire State Games Frank Petrucci and Kyle Vander Plaat attended the Empire State Game the week of July 27 to July 31, 2005 representing the Hudson Valley. On Friday Frank (stroke) and Kyle (3) raced with Collin Cusack (Newburgh) and Matthew Quillen (Newburgh) in the Open Quad. They finished forth the 2000 meter race in 8:26.3 behind Adirondack (8:03.6) Western (8:09.2) and New York City (8:14.1). Frank (stroke) and Kyle (bow) returned to the water on Saturday morning to race in the Junior Double. Racing the Mary Frances, owned by Paul and Sue Baresel, Frank and Kyle pulled out to an early lead and they held off competition for the entire 2000 meter race.
